ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMMES

Ithaca's specialization in environmental programs lies on three fronts:

• Coral Reef Ecosystems

• Climate Change

• Tropical Rainforests

Ithaca has developed a series of experiential learning platforms that allow students at different levels to grasp and understand key issues relating to the above areas. Clients have the choice of choosing :

• Experiential field trips and hands on ecperiences that bring students up close to the issues & related ecosystems. Experienced educators and guides explain and show students key aspects of the three focus areas.Creative experiments and multi-sensory experiences enable to engage and interact in the environments concerned.

• Engaging in service learning projects. Students will learn about the evironment, ecosystems and relevant key issues while engaging in service projects. They could engage in transect surveys or help design and build an interpretive centre at a National Park. This problem-based service learning approach is highly an effective and deeply impactful, student centred platform.

• Che Jawa (Singapore)

• Mulu National Park (Sarawak)

• Taman Negara (West Malaysia)

• Koh Chang Marine Park (Thailand)

• Tun Mustaffa Marine Park (Sabah)

• Kratie River Dolphin Reserve (Cambodia)

• Koh Kong Marine Reserve (Cambodia)

Ithaca's environmental programmes are designed, developed and supervised by trained and experienced scientists in their fields of expertise. Ithaca's Environmental Education Director, Geraldine Lee, graduated from the prestigeous and world renowned Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. Ithaca's Advisor for Marine Programmes, Professor Chou Loke Ming, is a highly respected scientist in Coral Reef Ecology in ASEAN. Click on their names to find out more about them.
