So much conflicting information out there. However, as I read more and more on evidence based research on nutrition and health, I see evidence that the only diet that humans can thrive on is a plant-based wholefoods diet. Unfortunately, our tastebuds are so accustomed to the processed food that is produced in factories, that sometimes eating minimally processed foods doesn't satisfy our tastebuds. That is because the holy trinity that food companies use to hook us (ie. sugar, salt and fat) makes us crave that more and more due to the serotonin and dopamine hits our brains receive when we ingest those foods. We have evolved to crave sugar, salt and fat because it was scarce in the environment before the industrial revolution started. This phenomenon is as the pleasure trap. All the lifestyle diseases out there i.e. stroke, heart disease, cancer, diabetes and even dementia can be reversed if you actually just eat plant-based wholefoods.
